Semester 1 Trivia Night 2013
TRIVIA NIGHT IS COMING! For those of you who were going to watch a bunch of anime to prepare yourself, you'd better get started soon!
Date: Friday, 3rd May
Time: 5:15pm till around 9
Location: Union House Lounge
If you want dinner on the night, make sure you order through this form. As usual, we'll be having discounted bentos from Ramen Ya for all members who fill in the form, but even if you aren't ordering dinner through us, please RSVP using the form so that we have an idea of the numbers of people to expect. Please don't leave it until the last minute! Of course, we'll also have the usual snacks and drinks available on the night for you all.
This is an open event, so you’re welcome and encouraged to bring your friends, it’s sure to be a great night. Whether you know every anime that has ever aired, or are just a casual fan, there will be questions for all. Even if you don’t think you have what it takes to win, you’ll be playing with somewhat random teams to help level the playing field a tad, as well as to encourage mingling between our members. You can pair up with a friend (or just a random on the night) and we’ll assign you a table to sit at, which will have around 6 people total per table. Having a good time is pretty much guaranteed, and there will be some great prizes for the winners, so come along and impress us with your anime knowledge!
Week 7 Movie Night - 23/4
Hopefully everyone has been surviving the growing horrors of uni so far, because we'll be hosting our second movie night of the semester in week 7!
The screening will start at 6:30 so be there on time if you don't want to miss out on anything. Grab some dinner beforehand, or alternatively survive on the free drinks and snacks on offer; it's up to you!
Date: Tuesday 23rd of April
Time: 6:30 pm
Venue: Redmond Barry - Lowe Theatre
We will be screening Jin-Roh, a dark, paramilitary, psychological anime with fantastic animation. Once again, if your classes finish early, we'll be hanging out in the theatre from about 5:30 showing some random things.
This is an open event so feel free to bring your friends along!
Week 5 Movie Night - 8/4
WWWA will be hosting its first movie night of the year on Monday, 8th April, the day uni resumes. The movie will start at 6.30pm, giving you a chance to grab some dinner before coming along (feel free to eat during the movie!). As usual, we'll have some free drinks and snacks on hand for members.
Date: Monday 8th of April
Time: 6.30 pm
Venue: David Caro - Hercus Theatre
We will be screening A Letter to Momo; an award-winning movie from a few years ago which has been called one of the best animated adventure films since Spirited Away. We'll be starting on the dot, so try to be there on time if you don't want to miss any of it. If your classes finish early, we'll be hanging out in the theatre from about 5:30 showing some random things.
This event is open to everyone so feel free to bring your friends along!
Easter Marathon - 4/4
Our first marathon of the semester will be during the Easter Non-Teaching Period. The theme of the day will be "old anime" (i.e. pre-2000 shows), so expect to see some of the renowned classics, and prepare for the nostalgia overload!
Date: Thursday 4th of April
Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Venue: Babel Building - Lower Theatrette
As usual there will be free Pocky and drinks for all our wonderful members. This is an open event so feel free to invite your friends or just come along and meet the club!
Welcome Party - 8/3
To kick off a fantastic start to the year (O-week was a blast!) we're holding a Welcome Party for all our members this Friday, the 8th of March in the Union House Lounge from 5pm to 9pm.
It's party time, so come along and meet other members, both old and new, while you enjoy games, anime, bentos, takoyaki, soft drinks and pocky. There will be game consoles, anime tunes, board games, and more! If you have a console, or game you want to bring - go ahead and contact me at [email protected] just to confirm we'll have enough screens and the such.
If you want us to order a bento (Japanese lunch box meal) from Ramen Ya for you, then make sure you fill out our order form - you'll get a $4 discount because you're a member! Signups will be available on the night as well. It'd be great if even if you aren't ordering dinner through us to RSVP using the previous form, so that we have a general idea of numbers. Our facebook event page here will be updated with more information once it comes to light.
WWWA at O-Week 2013
It seems that the summer break has finally come to an end, and with it, the beginning of semester. Luckily, we have plans during O-Week to cheer you up!
Our stall will be present at South Lawn for sign-ups on Friday the 1st of March. If you want to renew your membership on Thursday the 28th of Feb instead, pop into our Marathon; we'll have sign-up's available there. Along with a gift bag filled with goodies we'll also be giving out raffle tickets to people who sign up; this is your opportunity to win some awesome prizes without having to win Trivia Night! Lastly, we'll be finishing off our O-Week with the Sponsor Run, ending up at Ramen Ya hopefully in time for dinner. Check out all the details below. Also just a reminder that your membership does not carry over from last year; so make sure to sign up again if you don't want to miss out on information about our events.
Marathon screenings are happening both days:

Additional tickets will be available for $1 each on the day (if some of the prizes catch your eye you can increase your odds and buy some extra tickets). An important note; make sure that you're at the stall at the appointed time to claim your prize! Otherwise, the prize may go to someone else.
Sponsor Run:

A map of the route we will take is here: http://i.imgur.com/vnHzgvD.png
We'll meet at the stall and head around to visit all our sponsors, before finishing it off with dinner at Ramen Ya. A great way to socialise with members, both old and new, so come along!.
Club members who want to volunteer their time should contact [email protected] for details; thanks for your help in advance. Volunteering could include things like helping out with the stall/screenings on the day, advertising, cosplaying, and just generally socialising with new and potential members.
Summer Marathon - 8/2
Kudos to you if you’re reading this over the ever-so-enjoyable holidays, because we're back! Consider this a great opportunity to catch up with your fellow club members while indulging in some of the awesome new anime of this season.
Date: Friday, February 8th

We will have the library present on the day, so suggestions will be welcome as well. The Trigun movie will start screening at about 11, so don't be late if you want to catch it all. The Berserk movie will start at around 2, for the main film of the day.
